There are many benefits to using QuickBooks Online. The main one is the anywhere, anytime access it provides, being that it is a web-based accounting solution. Below, we discuss some of our favorite tips and tricks that will prove to enhance your user experience and help you get the most out of QuickBooks Online for your business bookkeeping.
A huge benefit to using QuickBooks Online is the ability to sync your bank and credit card accounts right to your QBO account. To accomplish this: Banking → Downloaded Transactions → follow the on-screen interview to locate and add your bank and/or credit card account (if you have never added accounts before) OR on the left hand side of the screen under accounts select “Add”.
All transactions are automatically downloaded into QuickBooks Online daily. This significantly reduces the amount of time that you need to spend on your monthly bookkeeping because the transactions are already there in your QBO account. Additionally, because transactions are downloaded and added to your QBO account electronically, this also reduces the chances of human data entry error.
You can use the Find window to search for specific transactions in QuickBooks Online. Find includes search parameters such as Transaction Type and also enables you to further specify your search criteria by selecting to search by certain fields including: Payee, Amount, Date, etc.
This field can come in handy particularly during the reconciliation process when you need to determine whether a specific transaction has been recorded in QuickBooks or not.
Memorized reports can be a great time-saving tool. This can come in handy if you need to run a very specific customized report often that you do not want to have to set the preferences and specifications for each time. With memorized reports all you need to do is customize your report once, and then click “Memorize”.
Once you have memorized the report, you can easily return to it and quickly run it whenever needed: Reports → Memorized Reports → Select appropriate report.
These are just some of our favorite tips and tricks. There are many. What are some of your favorites?
